ECI announced verification of voters in the name of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Roll in Bihar under Article 324 of the constitution of India and the Representation of people Act, 1950.

The last Intensive revision in Bihar has been conducted by Election Commission in 2003. Due to deletion and addition of Electoral Rolls Over last 20 year's.So ECI is under taking new verification norms through SIR (Special Intensive Revision) in 2025 June 24.

The addition and deletion of Electoral Rolls in Bihar state was because of frequent migration (shifting) of population from place to place.

Opposition to SIR - ECT :

Political parties, society organisation were opposing SIR. This opposition is because of long procedure model to verify the Electoral Rolls.

The procedure includes verification of Birth, school, marriage certificates along with lengthy form to fill.

You may think it is easy to do, but poor, uneducated and who are in very long distance facing more difficulties in this procedure. This may lead to loss of Electoral Roll (i.e,) people may not be able to vote in the 2025 election in Bihar.

The ECI have to ensure the every citizen vote.

The SIR by ECI may lose the valuable votes, since these votes will select ruling and opposition political party in Bihar through 2025 election.
